SummaryThis course in spoken and written French is designed for students who have some knowledge of French (approximately Standard Grade/GCSE level) and who wish to extend it.

All students take all elements of assessment including the degree examination (2 hours).

There is an identical course (Foundation French Language 2 - ELCF07008) which runs in the first semester.

On successful completion of the course, students will have the option of taking Foundation French Language 3 ELCF07007 or ELCF07009 (20 credits each), which follows on from Foundation French Language 2.

Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed ( Foundation French Language 1 (ELCF07011) OR Foundation French Language 1 (ELCF07012))

Pre-requisitesEntry to any language course above introductory level is subject to a language test by the relevant subject area on arrival and at the discretion of the course organiser.

Learning Outcomes
Improved competence in the four main skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing French. This greater competence is intended to lead to greater confidence and to enhance the ability to learn independently.

Special Arrangements This course is open to all students as a credit bearing course, or over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course. DELC students may only take this course if it over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course.

Please note: this course will not appear on students' personalised timetable. Group Sign-up sheets will be available on LEARN after the first class meeting. Groups have a limited quota, if a group reaches capacity, you will need to choose another.

The teaching classes will start in the second week of the semester.

Students joining the course after the first class meeting with timetable restrictions on which group they can join must contact the course secretary before enrolling to confirm availability in the required group.
