Learning Outcomes 
    On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
    
        - Understand the basic principles behind the most commonly used diagnostic techniques including  microscopy,	antibody based assays, cellular assays and molecular assays.
 - Discuss areas of innovation and development, and appreciate the use of bedside diagnostics and the importance of reference laboratories.
