SummaryThe course will look at the period from 1840 to the present. This course is aimed primarily at providing a general introduction to the major issues in American history during this period with an in-depth coverage of a few specific topics. In addition, the examinations, the tutorial journals and the required course essay will provide opportunities to carry out more detailed study and analysis.

Course description This course aims to provide a general overview of American history during the twentieth century. In covering such an extensive period, this course is aimed at providing a general introduction to the major issues in American history with an in-depth coverage of a few specific topics.

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should usually have at least 1 introductory level History. course at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. We will only consider University/College level courses.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
