SummaryTHIS IS A FOR-CREDIT COURSE OFFERED BY THE OFFICE OF LIFELONG LEARNING (OLL); ONLY STUDENTS REGISTERED WITH OLL SHOULD BE ENROLLED.

This course will enable students to expand their skills and develop jewellery-making techniques such as sawing, filing, forming and soldering. Focus will be placed on introducing press forming sheet metal to create distinctive and individual pieces of jewellery. You will consider design issues such as the relationship between a two-dimensional design on paper and its realisation as a developed three-dimensional form.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, through attending classes and engaging in directed and independent study, students should be able to:

RESEARCH
demonstrate an ability to research, develop and evidence visual ideas into a coherent series of focussed jewellery pieces
PRACTICE
make basic jewellery using a range of materials including the use of press forming sheet metal.
PRESENT
show a developed understanding of the design process for small-scale wearable jewellery by experimenting with sketches, tests and samples and producing finished piece(s).
