SummaryJewish views of Jesus and Christianity from antiquity to the present day. It will also consider a range of Jewish texts, including rabbinic literature, medieval disputations, and modern theology and literature.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Religion 2A: Making Sense of Religion: Phenomenological, Historical and Cultural Approaches to the Study of Religion (REST08008) AND Religion 2B: Religion and Society: Social Scientific Approaches to the Study of Religions (REST08007)

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should have at least 3 Divinity/Religious Studies courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses.

Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to 1) read and analyse a variety of Jewish textual genres; 2) demonstrate an understanding of Jewish history in Christian Europe over the past two thousand years; 3) outline a variety of theoretical models for analysing Jewish Christian relations; 4) articulate applications to Jewish-Christian relations drawing from postcolonial theory, feminist theory and post-structuralism; 5) demonstrate an ability to identify key terms and their meanings; 6) demonstrate good judgement about how to judge the relative importance of items on course bibliographies.
