Summary | The course emphasises the importance of developing positive and respectful working relationships. This course will be an introduction to the skills and principles involved when working with people, in a voluntary or paid capacity. It is a requirement that students have work experience to draw upon. |
Course description |
The bulk of teaching and learning will take place in tutorials. The focus will be on the practical work experiences that the students bring and the tutorial discussion analysising those experiences. During the tutorials students will be encouraged to engage in reflection upon their own and others work experience. Skill development will take place through participation in group learning, based around presentations and discussion. Course reading and a weekly lecture will provide the theoretical underpinning to learning. Students will be expected to have current or very recent work experieince in any voluntary or paid capacity. For non-social work students this does NOT need to be in a social work or social care setting. Social Work students ARE required to have current relevant social work or social care experience.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
