Summary | Students on this course will be familiarised with methods to assess the cross-cultural comparability of social and political concepts using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Using survey data they will learn how to develop latent variables reflecting particular constructs (such as well-being, political trust, social capital, xenophobia, etc.) and testing whether their configuration is comparable in different countries using Multigroup CFA methods. Furthermore, they will learn how to use such variables in statistical models (e.g. regressions) through SEM extensions. |
