Year 2 Academic year: 2019/20, Starting in: August

Notes:
Entry into third year normally requires (i) passes in all courses (240 credits) in the first two years,(ii) a pass in Economics 2, (iii) a pass in Statistical Methods for Economics, (iv) a mark of 50% or above in Global Connections since 1450 at first attempt and (v) a mark of 50% or above in The Global Economy since 1750 at first attempt.

EXCLUDING: CMSE08002 Business Research Methods I: Quantitative Techniques.

Level 7 courses may be taken with the permission of your Personal Tutor subject to a maximum of 40 credits over years 1 and 2.


Year 3 Academic year: 2019/20, Starting in: August

Notes:
Entry into third year normally requires (i) passes in all courses (240 credits) in the first two years,(ii) a pass in Economics 2, (iii) a pass in Statistical Methods for Economics, (iv) a mark of 50% or above in Global Connections since 1450 at first attempt and (v) a mark of 50% or above in The Global Economy since 1750 at first attempt.

Students who spend their third year abroad at a partner university must complete and pass a full year's diet of examinable subjects (equivalent to 120 credits), all of which must be in Economics and Economic History. Students must complete and pass equivalent courses to the year 3 compulsory courses, but subject to additional requirements as described in the Study Abroad Information, available on Learn.

Historical Skills & Methods II is strongly recommended if intending to write an Economic History dissertation in Year 4.
If taking HIST10426 Historical Skills and Methods I and/or HIST10247 Historical Skills and Methods I, the topic for tutorial groups and essays MUST be in Economic History.

Degree Classification Weighting is based on 240 credits: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based (papers that for the purpose of degree classification acquire weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice).
From third year: 1) Topics in Microeconomics 2) Essentials of Econometrics 3) Topics in Macroeconomics or Applications of Econometrics 4) Economic History Honours option 5) Economic History Honours option 6) Economics or Economic History Honours option
From Fourth year: 7) Economics or History Honours Dissertation 8) Economics or History Honours Dissertation 9) Economics Honours option 10) Economics Honours option 11) Economic History Honours option 12) Economic History Honours option.

The following are the six 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based (papers that for the purpose of degree classification acquire weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.)
From Fourth year: 1) Economics or History Honours Dissertation 2) Economics or History Honours Dissertation 3) Economics Honours option 4) Economics Honours option 5) Economic History Honours option 6) Economic History Honours option.

Students who spent their third year abroad at a partner university must have completed and passed a full year's diet of examinable subjects (equivalent to 120 credits), all of which must have been in Economics and Economic History. Students must take third year compulsory courses for which they did not take suitable substitutes on their year abroad. Additional requirements are described in the Degree Programme Handbook available on Learn.
