Entry to year 3 requires:
(1) a pass at 50% or above at the first attempt in English Literature 2 and
(2) a mark of 50% or above in 40 credits of second year History courses at the first attempt.

Students wishing to undertake a Dissertation in English Literature are strongly recommended to take all four Critical Practice courses.

Final Assessment: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.)

From Third Year:
1. Honours option for History.
2. Honours option for History.
3. English Literature honours 3 option course Semester 1.
4. English Literature honours 3 option course Semester 2.
5. English Literature Critical Practice courses (2 x 10 credits) OR Honours option for History.
6. English Literature Critical Practice courses (2 x 10 credits) OR Honours option for History.

From Fourth Year:
7. Honours option for History.
8. Honours option for History.
9. English Literature honours 4 option course Semester 1.
10. English Literature honours 4 option course Semester 2.
11. Dissertation for English Literature or History.
12. Dissertation for English Literature or History.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.
