For entry to honours, students much achieve (1) an *average* of 50% at the first sitting across the mandatory Philosophy courses taken in the second year, ie Mind, Matter and Language (MML) and Knowledge and Reality (K&R); and (2) a minimum of 40% in each of these courses (MML and K&R) achieved at the first sitting.

Where the dissertation is taken in Philosophy, students must register for the dissertation completion course and write one 8000 word essay on a topic to be arranged with the department. All students who take the dissertation in Philosophy, must complete the Philosophy Dissertation course in year 3
