SummaryThe course will provide students with basic skills to communicate in Turkish. It will cover some other tenses: second form of the past tense, the future and the perfect tense. Reading and speaking will be included to practice these tenses and new vocabulary will be introduced.
Course description Turkish 1b aims to teach the structure of the Turkish language through Istanbul A2 course book. This book covers the reported past and the aorist tenses, the imperative and optative moods, noun&adjective making suffixes, punctuations, the ability suffix, -dIr suffix, direct speech and subordinating verbs and phrases in Turkish.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. recognise the derived forms of the Turkish verb.
  2. conjugate Turkish verbs in the past, present and future.
  3. use a wider Turkish lexicon, including some basic vocabulary from the fields of culture, history, politics and literature.
  4. speak and write about their daily lives, past experiences and future plans.
  5. translate lower intermediate level texts from Turkish into English and vice versa.
