Year 3 Academic year: 2021/22, Starting in: August

Notes:
Entry into Honours normally requires:
(i) passes in 240 credits of courses taken in the first two years;
(ii) passes at 50% or above, at first attempt, in Archaeology 2A and Archaeology 2B; and
(iii) passes at 50% or above, at first attempt, in Social Anthropology 2 and in Ethnography.

Entry to honours in Archaeology remains at the discretion of the Head of Archaeology in the light of performance across all courses.

Students intending to take the Social Anthropology Dissertation in Year 4 must be enrolled on Imagining Anthropological Research (SCAN10037) in Year 3

Students proposing to take the Social Anthropology dissertation should take Imagining Anthropological Research in 3rd year. This preparation course is not assessed and the credit weighting is subsumed within the 40 credits of the dissertation in 4th year.

Students wishing to take Culture and Power (SCAN10030) are encouraged to do so in Year 4.

Students intending to take the fourth year option Archaeological Fieldwork are required to undertake 10 weeks approved practical archaeological work in the vacations between the end of their second year of study and the beginning of their fourth year of study. Students who wish to combine the Archaeological Fieldwork option with a dissertation in Social Anthropology, will be required to complete their 10 weeks Archaeological practical work during the summer vacation of second year and the easter vacation of third year in order to leave the summer vacation of third year free for their dissertation fieldwork in Anthropology.
