Students can gain a number of exemptions from the professional Accounting bodies (ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, AIA) but these exemptions differ according to each Accounting body. Further details are available on the Business School UG tab on Learn.

Entry into third year normally requires (i) passes in all courses (240 credits) in the first two years,(ii) a pass in Economics 2, (iii) a pass in Statistical Methods for Economics and (iv) a pass in each of Accountancy 2A and Accountancy 2B and a minimum mark of 50% in one.

Students can gain a number of exemptions from the professional Accounting bodies (ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, AIA) but these exemptions differ according to each Accounting body. Further details are available on the Business School UG tab on Learn.

Students who spend their third year abroad at a partner university must complete and pass a full year's diet of examinable subjects (equivalent to 120 credits), all of which must be in Economics and Accounting. Students must complete and pass equivalent courses to the year 3 compulsory courses, but subject to additional requirements as described in the Study Abroad Information, available on Learn.

Degree Classification Weighting is based on 240 credits: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based (papers that for the purpose of degree classification acquire weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice).
From third year: 1) Topics in Microeconomics 2) Essentials of Econometrics 3) Topics in Macroeconomics OR Applications of Econometrics 4) Auditing 5) Management Accounting Applications 6) Accounting Honours option OR Economic Honours option.
From Fourth year: 7) Economics OR Management Honours Dissertation 8) Economics or Management Honours Dissertation 9) Economics Honours option 10) Economics Honours option 11) Accounting Honours option.12) Accounting Honours option.

Students who spent their third year abroad at a partner university must have completed and passed a full year's diet of examinable subjects (equivalent to 120 credits), all of which must have been in Economics and Accounting. Students must take third year compulsory courses for which they did not take suitable substitutes on their year abroad.
