|Summary||This course is intended to prepare students for life as a creative professional after leaving university. It enables them to identify platforms for their current work, sources of funding for future projects, and potential employers.
This is an advanced animation course that deals with what happens next, i.e. after graduation, and how to develop a plan that will help sustain the production of animation by students beyond their studies here.
The course will cover:
Working for others;
Working for yourself;
Specialist recruitment agencies;
IP, how to register it, protect it and make money from it;
Sources of funding for independent film production;
Rates, exactly what is your time worth?
Do you have to relocate?
Sources of support, communities and trade unions;
Festivals here and abroad;
Subsidised attendance at festivals;
Developing an online presence;
Writing your CV;
Making a show-reel
This course will require students to develop three outputs: a CV, a show reel, and a career plan that details and schedules activities for the next year, and details further objectives for the next four years after that.

||100% Coursework, comprising:
33.3% CV (Document, minimum 1 side A4, maximum 2 sides, that communicates clearly the student's abilities and ambitions).
33.3% Showreel (Online film, maximum duration 1 minute 30 seconds, that demonstrates selected highlights of the student's portfolio of previous work, edited together in an appropriately professional manner, designed to engage the attention of prospective employers).
33.3% Career Plan (Document, 1000 - 1200 words detailing student's career hopes , and a short, mid, and long term career plan, identifying potential employers, festival opportunities, or further study appropriate to the realisation of the student's identified ambitions).
Relationship between Assessment and Learning Outcomes:
LO1 only is used to assess the CV
LO2 only is used to assess the Showreel
LO3 only is used to assess the Career Plan
All Learning Outcomes weighted equally.
||1. Documentation of individual feedback and indicative grades via VLE for formative assessment at the midpoint of course;
2. Documentation of individual feedback and final grades via VLE for summative assessment at the end of course;
3. Self-evaluation is also carried out by student at formative and summative submission points and hosted on VLE
