Archaeology practical work requirement:
All students registered for a single or combined Honours degree in Archaeology normally undertake a minimum of three weeks fieldwork approved by the Head of Archaeology during the summer vacation of their first year of study.

Entry into Honours normally requires that:
1. Students must pass courses to the required value of 240 credits in the first two years.
2. Students must achieve passes at 50% or above, at first attempt, in Archaeology 2A and Archaeology 2B.
3. Students must achieve 50% or more in either Gaelic 2A or Gaelic 2B (for Modern Honours route) or in both Celtic Literature in Translation courses (for Medieval Honours route).

Final Assessment:
One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.)
1. Theoretical Archaeology Honours course

4. Celtic Dissertation Part 2 or Archaeology Dissertation
