Before making your course choices, make sure you have discussed them with your Personal Tutor.
Some third year courses are prerequisites for specific fourth year courses, and you are advised to consider your plans for fourth year when making your course choices.
Students who are members of Edinburgh University Formula Student may request a concession from the School Curriculum Approval Officer to replace System Design Project with Informatics Experiential Learning (Level 10). Approval will require written permission from the IEL-10 tutor confirming your eligibility for that course.
Students must meet all the programme learning outcomes specified in the Engineering Councils AHEP (Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes) to Graduate with BEng Computer Science. In particular:
A maximum of 30 credits can be compensated (awarded on aggregate) in total across years 3 and 4. The minimum mark where compensation can be applied is 10% below the nominal course pass mark; students must therefore score at least 30% for a course with a pass mark of 40% in order to be eligible for compensation.
INFR10022 Professional Issues, INFR09051 Informatics Large Practical, INFR09032 System Design Project must be passed without compensation.
Students who do not meet these criteria, but who do meet the University criteria to pass the year, will be permitted to switch to the BSc Computer Science in order to achieve an honours degree award.
