- The Engineering Council Progression and Graduation Rules -
No more than 30 credits may be compensated for in the degree programme. The following are our rules to enable this condition to be met:

In Year 3 in order to meet the requirements of the Engineering Council, progression require accumulated full passes in 350 credits of courses, with the remaining credits having marks in the range 30 to 39%.

- Resits for Professional Purposes -
Students NOT achieving full passes in 350 credits AND/OR whose remaining credits have results less than 30% will be required to take 'Resits for Professional Purposes' (RPPs). Compensation of any course or group of courses containing unique AHEP learning outcomes is not permitted.

In addition a full pass is required in each of the following courses (i.e. these courses cannot be compensated):

SCEE09001 Professional Issues for Mechanical Engineers 3

For any failed courses not qualifying for compensation, students must carry out 'Resits for Professional Purposes' (RPPs).

Progression will then only be permitted once they have achieved the equivalent of full passes in at least 350 credits of courses plus a result of 30% or above in the remaining 10 credits, including passing all courses for which compensation is not permitted. However the mark obtained at the first attempt will be used to calculate the final year average and degree award.

Once Credits on Aggregate have been awarded for any course, Resits for Professional Purposes will no longer be available for that course.
