Students who are members of Edinburgh University Formula Student may request a concession from the School Curriculum Approval Officer (SCAO) to replace System Design Project INFR09032 with Informatics Experiential Learning (Level 10) INFR10084 (IEL-10). Please contact your student support team to gain approval from the IEL-10 course organiser, confirming your eligibility for that course, and they will then pass to the SCAO.
Students must meet all the programme learning outcomes specified in the Engineering Councils Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes (AHEP) to be eligible to graduate with the BEng in Computer Science. In particular: a maximum of 30 credits may be compensated (awarded on aggregate) in total across years 3 and 4. The minimum mark where compensation is applied is 10% below the nominal course pass mark; students must therefore score at least 30% for a course with a pass mark of 40% in order to be eligible for compensation; and, Professional Issues (Level 10) INFR10022, Informatics Large Practical INFR09051 and System Design Project INFR09032 must be passed without compensation; and, students who do not meet these criteria, but do meet the University regulations to pass the year, will be permitted to switch to the BSc in Computer Science in order to achieve an honours degree award
