Course options

CDT Quantum Informatics - Introduction Course

Select between 10 and 20 credits of the following courses
Notes:
Students are required to take either Introduction to Quantum Computing (20 credits) or Advanced Introduction to Quantum Computing (10 credits), not both.

The appropriate course will depend on whether the student has prior knowledge of quantum computing and must be agreed upon in advance with the CDT Director.

Students who take Advanced Introduction to Quantum Computing (10 credits) will also be required to select an additional optional 10-credit course.

CDT Quantum Informatics - Optional Courses

Select between 40 and 50 credits of the following courses
Notes:
During the first year of this programme, students must complete 180 credits worth of taught courses. Before selecting your elective courses, please ensure you have consulted the CDT Director, where required.

The standard elective course options are linked below. Please review these to help decide your selection. On average, we expect you to sit up to 20 credits of elective courses in each semester.

Level 9, 10 and 11 courses in Schedules A to Q, T, W and Y

Select between 40 and 50 credits from Level 9, 10 and 11 courses in Schedules A to Q, T, W and Y
Notes:
Students are permitted to undertake courses from the wider DRPS Course Catalogue if justified and agreed with the CDT Director in advance. The non-standard elective course options are linked above.

Year 2 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
This is the research phase of the PhD. There are no taught for-credit elements in year 2.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.


Year 3 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
This is the research phase of the PhD. There are no taught for-credit elements in year in year 3.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.


Year 4 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
This is the research phase of the PhD. There are no taught for-credit elements in Year 4.
