SummaryThe final project, the Capstone Project, provides an opportunity for the MBA candidate to develop the ability to identify, analyse, research and propose a solution to a real problem of significance in business or administration. It can be a project involving contact with practice (for example in a company), a library based project using secondary data, a teaching case study, or a business plan. The standard expected is that the project will show knowledge and understanding of the area that is being researched; some contribution to knowledge is generally required for distinction level.
Course description Undertaking the Capstone Project requires the student to develop a deep level of analysis and understanding of the theory and processes of organisations and the business environment through the completion of a piece of individual research.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Study in depth a topic of particular interested to the student, within the field of business.
  2. Plan, design, execute and report a significant piece of individual research.
  3. Gain experience of the processes involved in rigorous research
  4. Communicate, via a report, complex ideas and information in a coherent and structured manner.
  5. Contribute to knowledge through one of a research, consultancy, business plan or feasibility study pathways

Graduate Attributes and Skills The Capstone Project provides the opportunity for students to engage in a research project and, in particular, the ability to study a specific topic and question, identify the issues and how they may be researched, collect and validate appropriate data, organise and discuss the findings, their reliability and validity, and present results in a logical and clear manner.
