SummaryThis course will serve as a basic primer in key Design Interior principles, production methods and techniques. Following on from Interior Design 1A, the course further builds and expands fundamental technical and conceptual knowledge and understanding that is vital for sustained practice.
Course description Students will be given an existing single storey space to analyse and draw to scale. They will be expected to establish a brief in order to respond to a specific client's needs and the limitations and possibilities presented by the space.

Students will prepare outline proposals in sketch and other communicative form for discussion. Further to an iterative design process they will prepare final proposals in drawing form to scale, for consideration by staff.

Students will gain a basic understanding of interior alteration of an existing space, and develop ideas based on the requirements of other people.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of core concepts and practices of interior design.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between client requirements and opportunities/limitations of a space through practical investigation.
  3. Communicate creative ambition and imaginative ideas using a range of methods relevant to an Interior Designer.
