SummaryThis course will help to prepare students to be practising ecologists and environmental scientists capable of working effectively within a professional setting.
Course description This course will help to prepare students to be practising ecologists and environmental scientists capable of working effectively within a professional setting. It will focus on developing students¿ abilities to evaluate and plan their personal development, successfully apply for jobs or other professional opportunities, and effectively plan and manage projects. In addition, it aims to develop essential transferable skills, ranging from communicating and managing professional peers to critical self-reflection and to introduce students to case studies of professional practice.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Identify their professional goals, evaluate their current situation and plan their professional development
  2. Confidently navigate the process of applying for jobs in the ecological and environmental sciences.
  3. Understand and use techniques of project planning and management to deliver successful projects
  4. Communicate effectively with peers and potential employers about professional matters.
