SummaryThis course aims to promote an appreciation of the importance of communication in the control of disease. This will include issues of health promotion and the media portrayal of disease, using examples from situations in both the developing and developed world.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Understand the role of health promotion in disease control.
  2. Understanding the uses of different types of media for communication.
  3. Understand the impact of the media on public attitudes to disease.
  4. Understand the role of globalisation and the internet on access to information and its impact on disease control.
