Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- gain a more profound awareness of, and fluency in, dealing with early to mid 19th-century harmony.
- gain an increasing awareness of musical textures, and a facility in writing these: in particular, string quintet and string ensemble.
- gain knowledge of different 19th-century song repertoires.
- gain fluency in writing piano accompaniments for 19th-century song repertoires, in particular the German Lied and the French mélodie (especially Faure).
