SummaryPreparation for the MSc project is an important component of MSc programmes. This course will focus on the development of a project outline, usually provided by the supervisor, into a full project proposal with evaluation of datasets, hypotheses and power calculations as appropriate.
Course description The aim of this course is to provide students with an opportunity to conduct independent research on the background to their topic and to develop a research proposal.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Summarise the current state of knowledge in the focal field of study.
  2. Design a research project in the field of quantitative genetics.
  3. Identify data and methods appropriate to answer a specific research question.
  4. Write a project proposal for a specialist scientific audience.
  5. Develop a research program that is deliverable in the time available.
