SummaryThis project is intended to introduce students to multidisciplinary planning and design. The project should develop creative thinking, team skills, and an improved understanding of the other disciplines involved in delivering CCS schemes and the interactions that will be required between them within the full CCS chain. Interdisciplinary teams will arrive at a detailed design for a power plant that could use CO2 capture. The course reflects rapidly emerging trends in power plant and environmental engineering allowing students to develop their ability to tackle 'real world' problems where a broad range of, sometimes competing, design requirements must be taken into account.
Course description 1 x 3 hour lecture to introduce the course.
Weekly clinic-style face-to-face tutorials for the rest of the semester, complemented by a supporting series technical presentations. Student project presentations are expected to occur during scheduled class time. Students will work in groups, with the remainder of their time spent working independently on tasks discussed and agreed with other members of their group.
