|Summary||This semester-long course is taught using a combination of lecture and tutorial sessions and is suitable for students following any Masters programme in Psychology. The aim of this course is to help students master the particular techniques and tools needed to conduct research in social psychology, including conducting social psychological experiments, working in the field and cross-culturally, and collecting quantitative and qualitative data.
This course will teach students how to obtain, process, and analyse high-quality social research data, and how to deal effectively with the challenge of doing social psychological research.
We will cover:
- the particular challenges of conducting social psychological research;
- research ethics;
- how to design and conduct social psychological experiments in the laboratory and in the field;
- how to design questionnaires, on- and offline;
- collecting qualitative data to address social psychological questions;
- observational data;
- using mixed methods;
- working with different populations in the field and cross-culturally;
- techniques for analysing experimental and questionnaire data

||Students will submit two coursework assignments that allow them to demonstrate what they have learned in the course.
Two 1500 word assignments each worth 50%
||The lectures and tutorial sessions are interactive; as such, feedback will be given regularly throughout the course.
