Course description |
Ability to recognise and manage thoracic outlet syndrome and other arterial disorders of the upper limb, Selection of appropriate surgical/endovascular interventions. Ability to recognise and manage non-atheromatous arterial disorders of the lower limb. Apply a constant and integrated approach to critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas, information and issues; Exercise a high level of autonomy and initiative in professional activities at a level of independent surgical practice.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Have developed a structured approach to assessment and investigation of upper limb presentations. This will include the recognition and management of thromboembolic disease, atherosclerotic disease, subclavian steal syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome and arteritis.
- Identify and manage non-atheromatous arterial disorders of the lower limb including a persistent sciatic artery, cystic adventitial disease and popliteal entrapment syndrome. This will be based on the approach developed when discussing occlusive arterial disease of the lower limb.
- Apply a consistent approach to critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas, information and issues.
- Exercise a high level of autonomy and initiative in professional activities at a level of independent surgical practice.
