Year 1 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
This 2 year part-time programme provides an intensive grounding in philosophy, its methodology and techniques of research. Students have the option to keep heir studies general or focus on a particular area.

Students must enrol for 120 credits of courses over 4 teaching semesters. The balance of credit loads can be tailored to individual students in discussion with their Programme Director who must approve all course choices.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.

Notes:
All students are strongly encouraged to take PHIL11203 the 0 credit Phil Skills (online) course in semester 1.

Students may substitute relevant courses outside philosophy with the permission of the programme director.

Year 2 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
In addition to the 120 course credits, a 60 credit dissertation will be completed after the coursework element of the programme. This will take place in the summer of Year 2. Formal progression to the dissertation will take place after the June examination board of Year 2.

Students must take the Philosophy MSc Dissertation (PHIL11001).

Note: It may be possible for students to switch to the Dissertation in Ancient Greek, Roman or Islamic Philosophy (PHIL11238) if they meet the listed prerequisites for this course. It may also be possible for students to switch to the Dissertation in Mind, Language & Embodied Cognition (PHIL11104) if they have the appropriate background.

In both instances, students must speak to their Programme Director to determine eligibility and seek approval for the transfer.
