Jump to: Year 1, Year 2

Year 1 Academic year: 2024/25, Starting in: September

Notes:
Postgraduate Professional Development (PPD) is aimed at working professionals who want to advance their knowledge through postgraduate-level course(s), without the time or financial commitment of a full Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate. The usual PG entry requirements apply and it is recommended that PPD applicants are already familiar with the area of intended study from prior academic or work experience, or already have a PG qualification in a related discipline.

You may take a maximum of 50 credits worth of courses over two years through our PPD programme, and these lead to a University of Edinburgh postgraduate award of academic credit. Alternatively, it may be possible to transfer your credits to continue studying towards a higher award on our Postgraduate Diploma or Masters programme. This will require you to complete 60 credits of compulsory courses PLUS additional elective courses to take you to 120 credits (including your PPD courses) to be eligible for a PG Diploma, then a further 60 credits for the MSc. However, if the higher award is your final goal then the PPD programme is not advised and you should apply for the PG Certificate, PG Diploma or MSc in the first instance.

Any time spent studying PPD will be deducted from the amount of time you have left to complete a Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate programme. Please contact the programme team for more information about changing programme.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.
