Students must pass a minimum of 80 credits, including passes in The Greek World 1A, The Greek World 1B, The Roman World 1A, The Roman World 1B, to be eligible to progress into Year 2.

Entry into the third year normally requires:
(i) passes in 240 credits of courses taken in the first two years, and
(ii) a mark of 50% or above, at first attempt, in both Ancient History 2a: Past and Present in the Ancient World and Ancient History 2b: Themes and Theories in Ancient History (from 2025/6 the courses will be renamed Ancient Historiography and Themes and Theories of Ancient History).

Entry to honours in Classics remains at the discretion of the Head of Classics in the light of performance across all courses.
