Students must take at least 40 credits of Music courses - please consult your Academic Cohort Lead if you are in any doubt about your course choices.

Please note that, for students who are in Year 1 in 2025/26, subsequent Years' DPTs will differ from those displayed here. In particular, new courses will be delivered for Year 2 in 2026/27. Maths Y1 - Music Fundamentals (M&M)

Choose this course if you do not have Grade A at SQA Advanced Higher or GCE A level in Music.

Maths Y1 - Music Composition (M&M)

Select between 0 and 20 credits of the following courses
Notes:
Choose this course if you would like to be able to take courses from the composition pathway in later years.
AND

Maths Y1 - S1&2 Music Options (M&M)

Select between 20 and 60 credits of the following courses
Notes:
Choose one of Thinking about Music or Topics in Popular Music if you would like to be able to take history-based courses in later years.
AND

Maths Y1 - FAC

Select between 0 and 20 credits of the following courses
Notes:
Choose this course if you do not have Advanced Higher Mathematics; or you have Grade C or below in Advanced Higher Mathematics; or if you do not have A Level Further Mathematics.

- Proofs and Problem Solving*
- Calculus and its Applications*
- Several Variable Calculus and Differential Equations
- Fundamentals of Pure Mathematics

(* or Direct Entry equivalents - Accelerated Proofs and Problem Solving & Accelerated Algebra and Calculus for Direct Entry)
