Physical Education Curriculum 2 focuses on the development of the knowledge and understanding underpinning Standard Grade physical education and core physical education and the abilities necessary for their effective delivery. The theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to the study of different physical activities is pursued within the framework of the curriculum programmes. Students are required to review practice systematically and acquire an understanding of the contribution of educational research.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course students should be able to:-
- Describe and analyse the nature and purpose of Physical Education in core and certificate courses.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the learner / teaching styles and the Physical Education Curriculum and implications for pupil learning, teacher intentions, content, delivery and assessment.
- Demonstrate a practical knowledge and understanding of the appropriate content of teaching and learning for pupils undertaking Standard Grade and Core Physical Education courses.

Assessment Information

The scheme of assessment in the course will reflect the focus on Practical Activities, Teaching and Learning and Curriculum. The grade for the Course will be based on summative assessments in the Curriculum and Teaching and Learning. Section 1 - Teaching and Learning (II) : 2000 word Assignment due end of semester 1. Section 2 - Curriculum (II) : 2000 word Assignment due end of semester 2
