The course is designed for graduates with no prior knowledge of modern standard Chinese (Mandarin). Students acquire knowledge and understanding of basic spoken and written modern standard Chinese.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will encounter 8-900 vocabulary items and 500 Chinese characters. They will be able to read simple texts and write basic sentences.

Assessment Information

Formative assessment by coursework.
Sumative assessment by written examinations in the December diet.
