Scottish Philosophy (PP0086)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : PPL-3-SCOTP-PH This course will involve close study of Hume's Treatise with particular attention to Hume's reaction to themes and issues in early modern philosophy. A distinctive aspect of the course will be the provision of background texts (Berkeley, Locke, Malebranche, Leibniz, Bayle, Descartes) to provide the context for discussion in addition to standard literature. In reading these texts issues about reason and reasoning, naturalism, scepticsm, causation, modality and personal identity can be treated in context.
