Aims:
- To further develop all aspects of language skills in reading, writing and speaking German in preparation for the student living and studying/working in a German speaking country on their year abroad.
-To build on progress made in the first year literary part of the course, deepening students' knowledge of German literary culture and practising analytical skills to bridge the gap into the more specialised Honours options.
-To further encourage grammatical and syntactical accuracy and (in the case of spoken German) a degree of fluency.
-To provide opportunities for independent study and to promote the effective use of reference resources and authentic language materials
- To encourage consistency in application and quality of work through assessment of coursework as well as examinations.
