From Bronze to Iron: The Mediterranean in the Later 2nd Millennium BC (VS1) (U03097)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : HCA-3-U03097 The course deals with evidence for the exploitation, procurement and consumption of metals and other materials in a period of major transitions. It examines the role of trade amongst palace-oriented societies and adjacent social systems in the Mediterranean regions; the collapse of many of those organisational systems at the end of the Late Bronze Age, as epitomised in studies of the Sea Peoples; and the ensuing social and political patterns that emerged with the change of the millennia. Pre-requisites : Visiting students must have prior study providing general background in prehistoric or proto-historic archaeology.
