? Pre-requisites : A pass at Japanese 1 at the first attempt or equivalent (110 hours of study, knowledge of hiragana, katakana and more than 200 kanji plus elemntary grammar, written and spoken communication skills. Students wishing to enrol should arrange an interview with the course organizer.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To equip students with the necessary reading and writing skills to continue their study of Japanese language and culture at a Japanese university by:
-familiarizing them with kanji in context by reading and translating texts
-providing practice in written self-expression in Japanese
-encouraging them to develop general reading skills in Japanese
-introducing them to the cultural background to Japan and developing their critical knowledge of Japanese Studies
