Course descriptionThis course allows students to explore the nature of counselling and communication in the healthcare setting. Students will explore the use of counsellign approaches in this course.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Nursing 1 (NUST08001) AND Nursing 2 (NUST08006) AND Health and Society 1A (NUST08002) AND Health and Society 1B (NUST08003) AND Health and Society 2A (NUST08004) AND Health and Society 2B (NUST08005) AND Research and Inquiry in Nursing (NUST10007) AND The Nature of Nursing (NUST10012) AND Pathology and Patient Care (NUST10013) AND Organisation and Management of Health Care (NUST10014) OR The Nature of Mental Health Nursing (NUST10017) AND Therapeutics and Patient Care (NUST10016) AND Politics and Management of Mental Illness (NUST10015)

Students will examine the main theoretical perspectives of counselling learning outcomes include the use of counselling approaches in areas such as chronic illness sexual abuse and mental health.
