SummaryIndicative course content
To consolidate an understanding of a range of approaches to Intermedia research.

Aims of course
1 To intergrate an understanding of Intermedia (post 1945) within individual practice.
2 To identify an appropriate context for individual practice.
3 To explore a range of appropriate research methodologies.

Mode of delivery
Individual tutorials, Group seminars, Guest speakers, Presentations
Course description Various topics will be introduced during the academic year.

Articulate methodologies of artistic research.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: ( Intermedia practice 2 (ARTX08022) AND Intermedia Research 2 (ARTX08023) AND Intermedia Professional Practice 2 (ARTX08024) AND Art 2: Postmodernism and After (ARTX08025))
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Intermedia Practice 3 (ARTX09043) AND Intermedia Professional Practice 3 (ARTX09045) AND Art 3: Visual Research (ARTX09046)
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.
Additional Costs ECA students are required to pay for the cost of materials used throughout their programme of study.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Utilize a range of Intermedia research and information gathering methodologies and strategies effectively.
  2. Apply these methodologies to analyse research material to develop personal ideas and critical thinking.
  3. Identify and articulate a personal approach to Intermedia research.
