  • Notes: Final Assessment Weighting: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20-credits of courses. For those students who spend third year abroad (ERASMUS) final assessment weightings are as follows: full year abroad who will have their final assessment based wholly on the fourth year and for those who are away for one semester will have their final assessment based on the 180 credits obtained at Edinburgh University proportionally.

A list of available courses is made available before the beginning of each semester, and students will be able to choose from among these courses in consultation with their directors of studies. While specific course offerings change from year to year, these courses typically include subjects in history, politics, religion, or cultural studies.

    Notes:Non-IMES Middle Eastern Related Courses are courses involving discursive studies of Islam/Middle East related subjects offered outside of IMES. A list of courses is made available before the beginning of each semester, and students will be able to choose from among these courses in consultation with their director of studies. While availabilty varies from year to year these courses are offered in a range of subject areas including: Classics, Divinity, History, History of Art, Politics and Social Anthropology.
