Entry into Honours requires (1) an *average* of 50% across both the mandatory Philosophy courses standardly taken in the second year, Mind, Matter and Language (MML) and Knowledge and Reality (K&R) achieved at the first attempt and (2) a minimum of 40% in each course (MML and K&R) achieved at the first attempt, and a pass in 'Several Variable Calculus and Differential Equations' and 'Fundamentals of Pure Mathematics', or the permission of the relevant Head(s) of School(s).

A dissertation MUST be taken in Final Year in either Philosophy or Mathematics. Where the dissertation is taken in Philosophy, students can either do a single long 8000 word dissertation, or two 5000 word essays ( short dissertations). If the two 5000 word essays are selected students should choose two courses from Philosophy Honours Programme Collection (Philosophy Honours Year 4), as available.
