The MSc in Applied Linguistics programme consists of a combination of compulsory courses and optional courses. As some courses may not be available in particular academic years, students should consult the current academic year's course information on DRPS.
Please note that students with ESRC funding will be required to take the following ESRC accredited research training courses:
Qualitative Methods in Psychological Research (10 credits)
Multivariate Statistics and Methodology Using R (10)
Univariate Statistics and Methodology Using R (10)
Linguistics Research Skills (20 credits)
Additionally, students on this pathway are asked to audit SPS Research Design (20 credits) to supplement the Linguistic Research Skills course and ensure that they mix with students in the UoE ESRC Core Cohort, thus standardising their experience.
NOTE: This programme is available to study part-time (PT). PT students must complete the same requirements as full-time over two academic years. The dissertation must be completed during Year 2, after progression to the dissertation stage has been confirmed by the Board of Examiners. All course choices are subject to the approval of the supervisor. Students are advised that course availability may vary across years subject to staffing arrangements.
