During 3rd year, when permitted, at least 30 weeks of approved residence must be spent in relevant countries. The minimum period of residence in the country of either language will be eight consecutive weeks. During sessions when this is not permitted, students will be offered an alternative means of engagement.
Final Assessment Weighting:
One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.)
Group A - With Persian study abroad in 3rd year:

Group B - Without Persian study abroad in 3rd year, two Advanced Persian papers are replaced by Intensive Persian (40 credits); and the Arabic Coursework Essay is compulsory. (NB This option (Group B) is only available to students when study in a Persian-speaking country or at an approved institution elsewhere is not permitted.)
