SummaryThis course is part of the CDT in Quantum Informatics training programme. Interdisciplinary groups of 3-4 students work on a research project, surveying literature and implementing the project. Special attention is paid to communication with students and audiences with a different undergraduate background than the student.
Course description Students are teamed into groups of 3 or 4, ideally consisting of students from different undergraduate backgrounds (Informatics, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc). The group works together on a small research project. The first phase concentrates on writing a literature survey that is accessible to students from all undergraduate backgrounds. In the second phase the project is implemented. Students then individually write a summary report reflecting on interdisciplinary collaboration, which together with a project group presentation forms the basis for the course assessment. The literature review will feed into the annual report for the first year review.
