Notes:
It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you choose outside courses in first year that follow on into second year, so that there is the possibility of an alternative degree programme at the end of second year. An overall maximum of 40 credits at level 7 is permitted across years one and two.

Notes:

Students CANNOT take Introduction to the History of Philosophy A (PHIL08019) if they have already taken Introduction to the History of Philosophy (PHIL08018).

Students CANNOT take Introduction to the History of Philosophy A (PHIL08019) if they have already taken Introduction to the History of Philosophy (PHIL08018).

Notes:
Progression to Honours requires (1) an *average* of 50% across both the mandatory Philosophy courses standardly taken in the second year, Mind, Matter and Language (MML) and Knowledge and Reality (K&R) achieved at the first attempt and (2) a minimum of 40% in each course (MML and K&R) achieved at the first attempt

You should only choose a non-philosophy course if it has been discussed with your cohort lead or student adviser and the course organiser of the course you are interested in taking.

Year 4 Academic year: 2024/25, Starting in: August

Notes:
The Philosophy dissertation MUST be taken in Final Year. Students can either do a single long 8000 word dissertation, or two 5000 word essays (coursework dissertations).

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.

Dissertation in Philosophy

Select between 0 and 40 credits of the following courses
Notes:
The Philosophy dissertation MUST be taken in Final Year. Students can either do a single long 8000 word dissertation (Dissertation in Philosophy Course), or two 5000 word essays (coursework dissertations).
If the two 5000 word essays are selected students should choose two courses from Philosophy Honours Programme Collection, Philosophy Honours Year 4, as available.
