Notes:
Challenge Courses are designed to bring together students from different degree programmes to explore the complex issues facing the world today through interdisciplinary collaboration and creative thinking.

Working with each other and expert academics, students will gain new perspectives and develop important life skills highly valued by employers, such as teamwork, problem-solving and adaptability.

Year 2 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: August

Notes:
Students who have passed courses to the required value of 240 credits, and:
- achieved a mark of 40% or above in Data Analysis for Psychology in R2 at the first attempt
- achieved a mean mark of 50% or above in Psychology 2a and Psychology 2b (with a minimum of 40% achieved at the first attempt)
are automatically entitled to progress to honours.

Students who are planning on spending their Junior Year Abroad must successfully progress to honours before they can proceed on their JYA.

Notes:
The Sociology Project Preparation 0 credit course is only compulsory for students who are taking the Sociology Project in 4th year.

Students wishing BPS accreditation must ensure that their curriculum follows BPS guidelines. Students who meet the university requirements for graduation, but who fail to meet the BPS accredited degree requirements will be eligible for the award of the unaccredited BSc(Hons) Sociology and Psychological Studies degree. For more details on accreditation see handbook.

Students who have passed courses to the required value of 240 credits, and:

Junior Year Abroad Students will be expected to find suitable equivalent courses for Designing and Doing Social Research and Social Theory that have been approved and signed by the Sociology Exchange Co-ordinator on their Learning Agreements. In cases where students have been unable to find equivalent courses, they must take at least ONE of these in year 4.

Notes:
Students returning to Year 4 from a year of study abroad who have not taken and passed courses equivalent to PSYL10168 Data Analysis for Psychology in R 3 and PSYL10174 Qualitative Methods in Psychology while abroad will be required to take one or both of these courses in Year 4

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.

Notes:
If taking the Sociology Project, students may choose to use part of their third-year summer vacation for research. Students who wish to be eligible for the British Psychological Society's Graduate Basis for Registration MUST TAKE AND PASS the Dissertation in Psychology.
