DEGREE REGULATIONS & PROGRAMMES OF STUDY 2017/2018

Before selecting your outside courses, please ensure you have met your Personal Tutor.

Entry into Honours:

(1) students must pass courses to the required value of 240 credits in the first two years;
(2) students must achieve 50% or more at first attempt in all required second-year courses for their registered degree;
(3) students must achieve at least 50% overall in the relevant second-year language course(s), including at least 50% in the language component of that course.

All courses (including outside subjects) must be passed before embarking on the year abroad, an outside course passed at Resit in August will be acceptable.

At least 30 weeks must be spent in a Portuguese-speaking country and prescribed work completed in Scottish Literature and Portuguese in an approved establishment.

Final Assessment: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.).

1. Portuguese 4 Honours Paper 1.
2. Portuguese 4 Honours Paper 1.
3. Portuguese 4 Honours Paper 2.
4. Oral for Portuguese.
5. Long Essay for Scottish Literature.
6. Long Essay for Scottish Literature.
7. MEL Dissertation Preparation (same mark as 8) OR MEL Year Abroad Assessment.
8. MEL Dissertation Completion OR MEL Long Essay.
9. Honours option course in Portuguese.
10. Scottish Literature option Course.
11. Scottish Literature option Course.
12. A: Critical Practice Course: (10 credits); B: Critical Practice Course: (10 credits)
